Session 1881 -
Reimagining Capitalism in a World on Fire

Capitalism is a powerful system that has delivered economic growth and human prosperity. But at a huge cost. The free market capitalist system is also destroying the planet and generating a level of inequality that threatens to destabilize society at large. In this plenary, Rebecca Henderson will share her thoughts and insights about how we can reimagine the entire system based on her recently published, ground-breaking book titled “Reimagining Capitalism in a World on Fire.” The panel will be joined by Sue Garrard, the former EVP of Sustainable Business at Unilever, and current independent advisor. Drawing on rigorous research but also on both of our panelists’ multi-year and multi-dimensional experience, we will discuss challenges and opportunities on the path forward, towards a more sustainable, equitable and inclusive future.
