As the areas of strategic leadership and corporate governance have continued to mature, new and varied research topics have emerged and expanded the boundaries of these research domains. This session will take stock of the fundamental theoretical and empirical insights from these areas and ask what questions will direct future research. A panel of leading and emerging scholars in these areas will discuss several related questions. In particular, the panel will explore potential insights from continued research on personality and other individual differences in the upper echelons. The panel also will examine the growing representation of female and ethnic minority members on TMTs and boards and the research opportunities that emerge from greater TMT and board diversity. Finally, the panel will discuss opportunities for the applications of strategic leadership and corporate governance research in other areas of strategic management (e.g., strategic entrepreneurship, competitive strategy, corporate strategy) to continue to expand their boundaries and offer new insights to the overall field.
